Getting started
Pick a tool from the home page, add your files by clicking the button or dropping them onto the page, adjust the options on the right, and click the main action button. The result appears with a download button; you can rename the file or continue with another tool without re-uploading.
Frequently asked questions
Which tools run in my browser and which on your servers?
Merge, split, delete and extract pages, organize, rotate, JPG to PDF, PDF to JPG, edit, sign, page numbers, watermark, crop, protect, unlock, redact and compare run in your browser. Compress, repair, OCR, PDF/A and Office conversions (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, HTML) run on our servers, in memory only, and the file is deleted as soon as you download the result.
Is there a file size limit?
Browser tools have no fixed limit; the practical limit is your device's memory. Server tools accept up to 95 MB per run, all files together. Compress, repair, PDF/A and Office conversions take up to 20 files at once; OCR, PDF to Word and PDF to Excel up to 5; HTML to PDF one page or file.
My PDF asks for a password. What do I do?
Type the password on the file card and the file unlocks for that job. If you want to remove the password permanently, use Unlock PDF.
The download did not start.
Check your browser's download settings and pop-up blocker. On iPhone and iPad, files go to the Files app; on Android, to the Downloads folder.
Can I use PDF Toucan on my phone?
Yes. Every tool works in mobile browsers, and you can add the site to your home screen to use it like an app.
Do you keep my files?
No. Browser tools never send files to us. Server tools process files in memory and delete them the moment your result has been downloaded, or after 10 minutes at the latest if you close the page.
The result looks wrong or the file will not open.
Try the Repair PDF tool first. If the problem persists, contact us with the tool name and browser used; please do not send confidential documents.
